Apple

According to Wikipedia "The apple is the pomaceous fruit of the apple tree, species Malus domestica in the rose family Rosaceae. It is one of the most widely cultivated tree fruits."

It is eaten raw, cooked or juiced. It is grown in the southern parts of Australia including Tasmania which is known as the 'Apple Isle'. The first varieties appear in late summer (february). Cool-stored apples are available all year although the quality deteriorates as the year progresses.
